GREEN BAY, Wis. (August 30, 2024) – The TUNDRA Super Late Model Series will round out its 2024 season on Monday, September 2 at Golden Sands Speedway with the Cleaver Classic. The 108-lap feature honors the late David Kronberger – a fan, friend, and supporter of the series as well as many of its racers.
EPYK Media Rookie Ty Fredrickson is looking to make history on Monday, as he has the chance to be the first rookie to take the series title. Fredrickson won the last TUNDRA event at Golden Sands Speedway, the Blue Knight 88 on July 19. With his win Fredrickson put himself 20 points ahead in the point standings.
Looking to track him down is Brock Heinrich. The Brockstar has been a model of consistency this season, and will look to put himself back onto the podium after a Second Place finish at Golden Sands in July. Not far behind Heinrich is the team of Dalton Zehr and John Beale. Beale finished Third in the July race and will have a chance to claim the second straight title for his team. He trails by 36 points.
Justin Mondiek – a former TUNDRA winner at GSS – also has a chance to claim the Championship. He will need to have a strong day to make up the 42 point spread to the top spot. Behind him, rookie Jevin Guralski looks to keep his momentum alive and seal off the final spot in the TUNDRA Top Five.
Among other contenders to watch will be the 2024 Golden Sands Speedway Champion Colin Reffner. Reffner’s Blue Knight 88 bid was cut short with mechanical problems back in July. Expect to see him up front on Monday. He may also be joined by July fast qualifier Travis Volm, who had a strong showing at Golden Sands this season.
The 2024 GSS Pro Late Model Champion will be in the field, as well. Kendrick Kreyer made his TUNDRA debut at the third-mile two seasons ago and recorded a Top Ten as well as a dash win. He’ll be looking to make some noise on Monday, as well.
Former TUNDRA winner at Golden Sands Mike Lichtfeld will join the field for the second time this season. Lichtfeld recorded a podium finish in his lone start at Dells Raceway Park this year. He can be extended to contend along with GSS track record holder Jeremy Lepak.
Several drivers will be making their series debut including Levon Vandergeest, who was a title contender at Golden Sands this year. Payton Olson, Matthew Gajewski, and Bobby Wautier.
TUNDRA will be joined by the Pro Late Models, Wisconsin Sport Trucks, and American Super Cups. Fan gates open at 11:30, qualifying is at 12:45, and racing begins at 2pm.
