TUNDRA TRAVELERS READY TO RUMBLE AT STATE PARK

GREEN BAY, Wis. (August 2, 2022) – The busiest stretch of racing in TUNDRA Super Late Model Series history will reach its capstone event this Saturday at State Park Speedway in Wausau, Wis., with Round Four of the six-race schedule. It will be the third race in four weeks for the series, and the first time with back-to-back events.

Leading the charge will be current TUNDRA point leader and former State Park Speedway Champion Justin Mondeik. Mondeik set fast time and won the last time TUNDRA visited in 2020. He enters the event on a hot streak with three straight podium finishes and a win in the Bev Aschenbrenner Memorial at Marshfield Motor Speedway.

There will be no shortage of contenders looking to keep him out of Victory Lane, including defending Champion Riley Stenjem, Marshfield fast qualifier John Beale, and former Wausau fast qualifier Colin Reffner.

Several other TUNDRA Travelers had strong runs in the last series visit to State Park. Jordan Thiel wheeled his machine to a Second Place finish in a tough battle with Casey Johnson. Mark Mackesy – a two-time TUNDRA winner at his home track – finished Fourth. Wausau native Brock Henrich scored a very popular Top Five finish.

A few other travelers may sneak into the mix including James Swan, Michael Ostdiek, former SPS Champion MG Gajewski, Chad Butz, and Max Kahler.

Aside from the veterans, two rookies will also draw attention in Saturday’s event. Kole Guralski finished Fifth in the Detjens race at State Park and is coming off two solid runs at Norway and Marshfield. Top EPYK Media Rookie Barrett Polhemus has proven to be a fast learner, and will be looking to keep his Top Ten streak alive.

Outside of the sphere of TUNDRA Travelers, local contender Travis Volm is poised to make life difficult for the series regulars. Volm sits Third in State Park standings and has been impressive in weekly racing with two wins and four Top Fives in seven events.

TUNDRA will be joined by the Dairyland Vintage Series, Wisconsin Sport Trucks, and a Bandit/Mini-Stock Special.  Qualifying is set for 5:45pm with racing at 7.
