ZEHR LOOKS TO BE THE CLOSER FOR POTENTIAL TEAM TITLE

GREEN BAY, Wis. (September 21, 2022) – The partnership of Dalton Zehr and John Beale has been resulted in plenty of Championships for Gildan Racing over the past three years. This year the duo has a chance to capture the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series title as a team.

Nick Panitzke won the TUNDRA Championship in 2013 with the support of Cardell Potter. With some changes and refining to team drivers over the past two seasons, the team of Zehr and Beale could see themselves classified as the first team Champions.  It will be Zehr who looks to close the deal on Sunday in the Wegner 100 at Dells Raceway Park.

“There is only one first in any stat sheet; it would be cool to cement the team driving Championship,” Zehr said.

Zehr and Beale (as a team) trail point leader by Justin Mondeik by only six points.  All things equal, it’s the difference between two to three spots in the feature.  Qualifying will also award points and set the tone for the day. Zehr knows it could be key.

“Sunday is all about qualifying. If I can qualify strong and cut into the points lead it should come down to whoever finishes ahead of the other,” Zehr said.

The title would go along with Zehr’s three solo Championships and Beale’s Rookie of the Year campaign in 2017.  In that season Zehr was Champion, driving the Wayne Brevik-owned 711.  For Zehr, it feels like time to win another title.

“It’s been too long since I have won a TUNDRA Championship,” Zehr said. “Aside from this being a team title, that’s what makes 2022 different.”

Placing himself in the TUNDRA history books is nothing new for Zehr. He is the winningest driver in series history, including a win the last time he competed in a TUNDRA event at Dells Raceway Park in 2020.  It was his fifth series win at the venue.

“I’m excited going into the Dells. It’s always been a good track to me,” he said. “The points battle always adds a different perspective on the race.

If history is any indication, Zehr should be not only a threat for the title, but also a threat to seal it with a win (something he did at Jefferson in 2015).

“Success at a track usually breeds more success,” Zehr said. “Fortunately, way back when I first came to Dells, I unloaded a strong car. That has always given me a good idea of what I’m looking for out of my car.”

TUNDRA will be joined on Sunday by the UMA 602 Late Models and the INEX Legends. Qualifying begins at 12:30 with racing at 2pm.

STENJEM HOPING STARS ALIGN FOR SECOND TUNDRA TITLE

GREEN BAY, Wis. (September 21, 2022) – One year after securing his first TUNDRA Super Late Model Series Championship, Riley Stenjem has turned from being the chased to being the chaser.

This Sunday he’ll be looking to make up some ground and claim his second series title in the Carl Wegner 100 at Dells Raceway Park.  Stenjem sits 22 points behind current point leader Justin Mondeik, with the team of Dalton Zehr and John Beale sitting in Second, just six points behind Mondeik.

The approach to Sunday’s race brings a different feel than last season, according to Stenjem.

“I wouldn’t necessarily say that the pressure is off, but it’s definitely a different mindset coming into this race on the hunt versus protecting a point lead like we had to do last year,” Stenjem said.

Stenjem knows that although 22 points isn’t a lot, it can take some luck to overcome.  Having another competitor between himself and the point leader also throws another twist into the plot.

“It’s going to take a near perfect day for us to win the championship this year, and a little bit of help from our competitors to put some cars between us, the 44 [Mondeik] and 119 [Zehr],” Stenjem explained. “We’re definitely excited to be in the position again to race for a championship, although we’d like to be in a better points position it’s still great to be in the hunt.”

Consistency has not been an issue for Stenjem all season long. He has completed every lap and has not finished worse than Seventh this season.  His best finish of the season was Second at Norway, one that he led until late in the race.  Stenjem is hoping they have the magic touch to get to Victory Lane Sunday.

“I don’t necessarily feel like we’re due for a win, we’ve had some good runs and been off some places this year when trying some different setups,” he said. “Hopefully if we get back to the basics setup-wise this weekend we can put ourselves in position to race for the win at the end.”

As a finalist of the Kulwicki Driver Development Program this year, Stenjem has seen some extra spotlight.  Weather delayed some of his plans and pushed other to the sides with postponements and cancellations. He’s looking to have a strong end to the 2022 campaign.

“It would be pretty special if we were able to get back-to-back TUNDRA Championships,” Stenjem said. “It would really put a nice boost to end our season heading into Oktoberfest and Falloween with this only being my second full season in a SLM, trying different ways to find opportunities to get faster and not racing a track more than once all season so far.”

TUNDRA will be joined on Sunday by the UMA 602 Late Models and the INEX Legends. Qualifying begins at 12:30 with racing at 2pm.

FEROCIOUS FIELD TO GATHER FOR TUNDRA CARL WEGNER 100 AT DELLS

GREEN BAY, Wis. (September 20, 2022) – Sunday’s TUNDRA Super Late Model Series season finale at Dells Raceway Park will feature a furious point battle within a battle to win the heralded Carl Wegner 100.

Both the title race and the $2,500-to-win 100 lapper will feature plenty of contenders.

Justin Mondeik, Dalton Zehr (teammate to John Beale), and Riley Stenjem are in the thick of the Championship tussle. Colin Reffner, who sits fourth in points, still has an outside shot if the chips fall his way.

Of the four, Zehr has the best record at Dells Raceway Park, collecting five TUNDRA wins at the venue since 2011.  Stenjem finished Third in last year’s race, slicing his way through the field late to capture the Championship in heart-stopping battle with Casey Johnson.  However, Mondeik has the leg up in the title race, holding a six-point advantage entering the event. Mondeik has shown improvement each time he has competed in TUNDRA action at the third-mile.

Those contenders, along with Colin Reffner, will have plenty of company in the race for the win. Former TUNDRA winners at Dells who will be looking for another trip to Victory Lane will be Casey Johnson, Jordan Thiel, and last year’s winner Jordan DeVoy.

It may be difficult to overcome some of the drivers who have plenty of experience and success at DRP including Mike Lichtfeld, Ryan Farrell, and Brady Bill.

Some other outsiders might be ready to spoil the party, as well. Former TUNDRA winners Jacob Nottestad and Steve Apel will be looking for their second series wins. Golden Sands Fast Qualifier Travis Volm will also be looking to make some noise.

TUNDRA will be joined on Sunday by the UMA 602 Late Models and the INEX Legends. Qualifying begins at 12:30 with racing at 2pm.

DEVOY HOPES TO KEEP SMALL TEAM DREAM ROLLING IN TUNDRA WEGNER 100

GREEN BAY, Wis. (September 19, 2022) – Jordan DeVoy might not be a household name among Super Late Model fans yet, but he’s hoping to be there soon. Another win in Sunday’s Carl Wegner 100 TUNDRA Super Late Model Series season finale at Dells Raceway Park would go a long way.

DeVoy won the last two races of the TUNDRA season last year, putting himself on the map. He garnered even more attention with a win in the Icebreaker 100 in April. Now he looks to repeat TUNDRA wins at Golden Sands and DRP for the second year in a row.  He said his team did not want to rest on its laurels from last season.

“My biggest fear during the off-season was not being able to replicate what we did at the end of 2021,” DeVoy said. “So yes, I had a lot of pressure on myself to fire off 2022 strong.”

Although they knew their program was strong, they found some places to improve. With the season-opening win at DRP, their off-season plan seemed to pay dividends.

“The off-season was focused on just being able to eliminate any inconsistencies from the way we run our program,” DeVoy said. “I wanted to have confidence that when we show up to the track we are bring the most prepared car we can. I think the hard work showed at the Icebreaker.”

From the Icebreaker, it felt like a long wait for DeVoy to hit the track again. He led early in the TUNDRA opener at WIR before a DNF and a 14th Place finish.  Several rainouts made for a short season, as well.  But here in the latter portions of 2022, DeVoy is seeing his schedule fill up.

Despite the time off, DeVoy didn’t seem to miss a beat in TUNDRA’s last race at Golden Sands – except for qualifying. DeVoy cruised through the field from his 15th Place starting spot and took his second straight series win at Plover after a thrilling duel with John Beale.

Not yet satisfied, he and his team have turned their attention to capturing another Carl Wegner memorial race win. Last year DeVoy dominated, and he hopes to do the same again.  The hope is not only to keep gaining momentum for the Super Late program, but also to honor someone who was crucial to his team’s success.

“Carl was one of the most influential people in my racing career. I wish he could see how we are doing now,” DeVoy said. “When I met him, I was a 20-year-old kid trying my ass off to go racing every week. I bought a used up $2,500 dollar motor from a fellow racer and had nothing but problems. Tommy Pecaro took me under his wings and looked at my motor. To make a long story short, Carl called me and offered me an opportunity to buy a 5.3L LS. It instantly changed my racing career. We started running up front and competing for wins. Tommy, Dennis, Casey and everyone at Wegner are great guys. Their support means a lot to me.”

The most intriguing part of DeVoy’s story comes not just from the help he received at that pivotal time in his career, but from how he and his team operate.  At most races you’ll see Jordan, his dad Bruce, his brother Cody, and several other friends and family members wrenching on the car.  At their shop – their garage at home – it’s much of the same.

“Not only do I have the full support of my family, I’ve been lucky enough to have the support of people like Wegner, Pathfinder, and Matt Noyce it means a lot to me that I have people I can bounce questions off of when I need it,” DeVoy said.

The story of DeVoy – as well as many other TUNDRA teams who operate the same way – is inspiring. It shows that with some hard work, determination, and a good support system, no matter how big a team is, it can still make waves in the Super Late Model world.

“I am very proud of our small team attitude and success. I have devoted a great deal of my life to racing,” DeVoy said. “I personally started by cleaning windows and rims when I was about 8 years old. After Lake Geneva Raceway closed, I fell into the opportunity to be a crew member for James Swan. Eventually, I put myself into a full-time position with Dan Church Racing when I was about 18 years old. When I bought my own race car, I felt equipped with the tools I needed to be successful on my own.”

DeVoy will go for his second straight TUNDRA win at Dells Raceway Park in the Carl Wegner 100 this Sunday. TUNDRA will be joined by the UMA 602 Late Models and INEX Legends. Qualifying is at 12:30 pm, racing is at 2pm.

ANOTHER WILD TUNDRA POINT BATTLE TO BE DECIDED AT DRP

GREEN BAY, Wis. (September 17, 2022) – In its previous 11 seasons the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series has produced heart-stopping point battles that came down to late-race heroics. This season’s point battle, which concludes next Sunday in the Carl Wegner 100 at Dells Raceway Park, could be the wildest yet.

In the late stages of last year’s Carl Wegner race, Casey Johnson and Riley Stenjem sliced through the field, looking for every point. It was Stenjem who made the final move, grabbing his first series title by just three markers.

This season three drivers, including two former series Champions, are very much in the mix for the 2022 TUNDRA Championship.  Another long-time series regular finds himself with an outside chance, but a fighting chance nonetheless.

Justin Mondeik seeks his first TUNDRA title with a six-point lead over the team of John Beale and Dalton Zehr (Zehr will be racing at DRP), a 22-point lead over defending series Champ Riley Stenjem, and a 37-point lead over Colin Reffner.

Point Leader, Justin Mondeik

Justin Mondeik is hoping his forgettable day in TUNDRA’s last stop at Golden Sands is his lone hiccup in a near-lights-out 2022 season. Mondeik won at Marshfield, recorded a Second Place finish at WIR and finished Third at Norway prior to the Ninth Place finish at GSS.

If Mondeik is able to replicate the results of the first three races of the season, he’ll be well on his way to the Championship.  A strong qualifying effort, and another Top Five finish should very well be the magic formula.  Mondeik has shown steady improvement in TUNDRA races at Dells Raceway Park, finishing Seventh last year. If one thing is for certain, he and his team will be ready to make another big step to challenge for the win and look to cap off the title with an exclamation point.

Former Champ, Dalton Zehr

The team of John Beale and Dalton Zehr are looking to make history as the first true team Champions in TUNDRA.  Zehr began the year with a DNF (19th Place) at WIR before rebounding with a win at Norway.  Beale displayed two strong Second Place performances at Marshfield and Golden Sands.

Zehr’s track record at DRP in TUNDRA action is strong, to say the least. He won when he joined the series in 2020 and has three Top Fives in four other starts after TUNDRA became a traveling series in 2013.  He recorded four wins when the series raced exclusively at DRP in 2011 and 2012.  Another strong day will keep pressure on his fellow title contenders.  Zehr has been in this title position before, and has shown the poise to get the job done with three previous series titles.

Defending Champ, Riley Stenjem

Riley Stenjem has been in the hunt all season long and is hoping for a breakthrough day next Sunday.  Stenjem has been consistent this season, never finishing outside the Top Ten. His Second Place finish at Norway was his best effort of the season so far, keeping him within striking distance of the Top Two.

This will be Stenjem’s second visit to DRP in TUNDRA action. Last season he dashed to a Third Place finish late in the race, giving him the edge over Johnson.  Stenjem will need a touch of luck on his side.  All else equal in the prelims, and with a win, he would need Zehr to finish Fifth or below, and Mondeik Seventh or below.  Making up some ground during qualifying will help his chances.

The Darkhorse, Colin Reffner

It won’t be easy, but it’s not impossible for Colin Reffner to emerge as the TUNDRA Champion.  Reffner stumbled a bit in the opener at WIR, but strong showings of Fourth (Norway), Sixth (Marshfield), and Fourth (Golden Sands) still leave him with an outside shot.

It will have to be a near perfect day for Reffner, beginning with qualifying. Reffner has recorded four career TUNDRA fast times, although DRP has been tricky for him in time trials. He will then need to find his way through the field and hope for luck to be on his side (a 37-point gap is the difference between First and 12th).  With momentum building within his team, Reffner should be seen as a threat in the Carl Wegner 100, and will see where the chips fall from there.

TUNDRA will be joined at Dells Raceway Park next Sunday by the UMA 602 Late Models, and the INEX Legends. Qualifying is scheduled for 12:30 with racing at 2pm.

Round Five at State Park Canceled

WAUSAU, Wis. (September 10, 2022) – Due to the forecast of precipitation creeping in and lingering during scheduled race time, officials from the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series and State Park Speedway have canceled the series’ visit to Wausau for 2022.

Originally postponed from August 6, the date selected was the lone chance at a make-up date due to other scheduling of tracks, series, and teams.

The next event for the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series is scheduled for Sunday, September 25 at Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. TUNDRA will be joined by the UMA 602 Late Models and INEX Legends. More information on the event will be available soon.

TUNDRA FIELD HEADS INTO PIVOTAL SUNDAY STOP AT STATE PARK

GREEN BAY, Wis. (September 7, 2022) – After a short turnaround for teams to catch their collective breath, the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series heads to State Park Speedway this Sunday, September 11 to make up the rained-out event from early August.

Monday’s event at Golden Sands tightened up the point standings with two races remaining on the 2022 schedule. Justin Mondeik’s lead sits at six points over the team of John Beale and Dalton Zehr. Defending Champion Riley Stenjem closed to within 22 points. Colin Reffner now sits just 37 points out of the top spot.

Of the four, Mondeik has had the best success at the quarter-mile, which happens to be his home track. Mondeik has won three straight track titles and captured the win the last time TUNDRA visited in 2020. He hopes to build up some breathing room before heading into the final event of the season at Dells Raceway Park.

Beale has recorded three Top Six finishes in TUNDRA action at State Park and won several features at the facility, including Wisconsin Challenge Series events. He has shown consistent speed in his appearances at the quarter-mile.

Stenjem has just one TUNDRA start at State Park. It came in 2020 when he finished 12th. It was Stenjem’s first ever Super Late Model start at the tricky track.

Reffner has shown excellent speed with a fast time at State Park in 2018, but has had sour luck during the feature events. A turnaround in fortune on Sunday could bring him even closer into the Championship conversation.

Also closing in on the top point-getters is the team of James Swan and Jordan DeVoy. Swan will tag in for Sunday’s event. He finished eighth in the 2020 TUNDRA stop.

Several locals will make things tough on the title contenders. Mark Mackesy has won two TUNDRA events at State Park. Brock Heinrich, a former Late Model Champion at SPS, comes off a strong Third Place finish on Monday. MG Gajewski is a former track Champion. EPYK Media Rookie Kole Guralski recorded a Fifth Place finish in the Detjens Memorial in July. Travis Volm, who set fast time on Monday, has recorded three feature wins at Wausau this season.

Two drivers are slated to make their first TUNDRA start. Brandon Reichenberger is a former WIR ¼-Mile Late Model Champion. He’ll be teamed with Mackville Motorsports. Bryce Miller, a past Midwest Truck Series Rookie of the Year is also looking to make his first start.

TUNDRA will be joined by the SPS Mini-Stocks and Mini-Mods who will be honoring the late George Seliger. The Wisconsin Sport Trucks and Dairyland Vintage Series will also be on hand. Fan gates open at noon with racing to begin at 2pm.

State Park Speedway is located at 147711 North Mountain Rd in Wausau. For more information visit http://www.stateparkspeedway.com

DEVOY OUTDUELS BEALE IN THRILLER AT GOLDEN SANDS

PLOVER, Wis. (September 5, 2022) – Monday’s Bank-A-Count 75 for the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series at Golden Sands Speedway was a race that will be burned into the memory banks of many for years to come.

Jordan DeVoy and John Beale put on a thrilling side-by-side display and let the gloves come off in a heavyweight bout over the final two laps. Both drivers survived contact and made wild saves with DeVoy making the final charge to victory.

Full Results

The win was DeVoy’s second in a row at Golden Sands and his third career series win.  He became the first driver to win more than one series race at the third-mile in ten events dating back to 2013.  What’s more, DeVoy came from 15th on the starting grid.

Mark Mackesy and Braden Berge pace the field early in the feature event.  Mackesy stepped away early, leaving Berge to deal with defending TUNDRA Champion Riley Stenjem in a battle for Second. A spin on lap four shook up the lineup once again, however.

After the restart Mackesy and Berge resumed the scrap for the lead. It would reach a breaking point when Berge made contact and Mackesy went spinning on lap six. Both continued at the tail of the field, and Stenjem assumed the lead.

On the following restart Stenjem was joined by Terry Schoppenhorst in the front row with Brock Heinrich and Jordan Thiel in the second row. Stenjem was able to grab the lead and bring Heinrich to Second. Behind them Wyatt Brooks, Thiel, Beale, Kendrick Kreyer and Colin Reffner were on the move. Brooks, Thiel, and Beale broke free by lap 15, and Beale immediately went to work on Thiel to take Fourth.

It was just past lap 20 when it became apparent that Beale and DeVoy would be the cars to watch.  DeVoy had cruised to Eighth by that point and Beale was still on the attack. He slipped past Brooks on lap 22 to secure Third.

Another caution fell on lap 27, tightening up the field. The yellow came as a break for the point leader Justin Mondeik. Although he had been making up ground and was nearing the Top Ten from his 18th Place starting spot, Mondeik inherited a tire rub. The caution allowed him to go to the pits to fix the issue. Leading EPYK Media rookie Barrett Polhemus would do the same.

The restart was single file, as it was the third before the halfway break.  Stenjem, Heinrich, and Beale spaced themselves from the rest of the field.  With plenty of jump, Beale was able to work past Heinrich into Second. Behind them Brooks dropped off, leaving Kreyer, Reffner, and DeVoy to grab some more track position.

Beale methodically chopped away at Stenjem’s lead and caught him just before halfway. He seized his opportunity to grab the inside line and swiftly stole the top spot.  Before Beale could build a sizeable advantage another yellow fell on lap 42 when Berge tangled with Kole Guralski. Guralski was given his spot back as Berge invoked the gentleman’s agreement.

Now past halfway, another double file restart was on tap. Beale was joined on the front row by Heinrich with Stenjem and DeVoy in the second row. Beale mastered the restart, leaving Heinrich in Second and Stenjem trying to fight off DeVoy for Third. Another yellow fell on lap 50 restacking the field once again.

On this restart Beale was followed to the inside lane by Heinrich and Stenjem. That left the outside for DeVoy to restart alongside Beale.  Beale jumped away on the restart, leaving DeVoy to try to fight off Heinrich. Behind them, Reffner moved past Stenjem and Kreyer with a heart-stopping three wide pass on lap 52.

DeVoy shook free of Heinrich and claimed Second on lap 55. He then started to reel in Beale and was to his bumper by lap 60.  The battle was paused with 10 to go when an incident that collected Steve Lichtfeld and Kole Guralski brought out the final yellow.

The last restart was single file, leaving Beale alone out front. DeVoy tested the outside line several times and found some grip on the high side to make his move. The duo stayed side-by-side for four laps until the pivotal final two laps. Beale washed up down the back stretch, leaving little room for DeVoy as he kicked up some dust with his right sides dipping off the racing surface. After the save at the entry of three and four, DeVoy charged back to Beale and nosed his way past, back to the outside and to the lead as the checkered fell. Beale closed in as they approached the checkered, but was forced to settle for Second.

Behind the wild finish, Heinrich held on for a career day with a Third Place finish, Colin Reffner secured a solid day in Fourth, and Ken’s Sports Fast Qualifier Travis Volm rounded out the Top Five.

With just two races to go, Monday’s event tightened up the point battle. Mondeik battled back to finish Ninth, but saw his point lead cut to six points ahead of the team of Beale and Zehr. Stenjem also closed the gap slightly as he sits 22 points back. Colin Reffner crept closer as well, now just 37 points out of the lead.

It will be a quick turnaround for TUNDRA as the make-up State Park Speedway date looms this Sunday, September 11. The event will mark the first time TUNDRA has ever raced twice in the same week.  TUNDRA will be joined by the SPS Mini-Stocks and Mini-Mods as they honor George Seliger, the Wisconsin Sport Trucks, and the Dairyland Vintage Series. Fan gates open at noon  and racing begins at 2pm.

DRIVER, FAN TO SPLIT BANK-A-COUNT BONUS AT GOLDEN SANDS

GREEN BAY, Wis. (September 4, 2022) – Drivers won’t be the only one looking to take home some extra prize money in tomorrow’s TUNDRA Super Late Model Series Round Five at Golden Sands Speedway. Courtesy of Bank-A-Count of Wisconsin Rapids, one lucky, yet skilled, fan will be taking home a cash bonus too.

The winning driver will pocket an extra $500 and one fan who chose him to win take home the same amount of bonus cash.

Fans are entered simply by attending tomorrow’s event at Golden Sands Speedway. Tickets will be given with duplicates to the fans as they arrive. They will then go to a table with containers representing each driver. Fans will drop one of their tickets in the container of the driver they think will win the TUNDRA feature.  After the race has concluded, the winning driver will pull a ticket to select the winner of the fan bonus.

“I love the bonus challenge for the fans,” said 2021 TUNDRA Golden Sands Winner Jordan DeVoy. “Everyone needs someone to root for to keep it interesting.”

Bank-A-Count is a locally owned and operated printer of computer checks, deposit tickets, self-inking stamps, and custom envelopes. In business since 1956, they feature affordable prices, fast, friendly service, a quick turnaround time, and flexibility to meet any customer’s needs. Check them out at www.bank-a-count.com

TUNDRA will be joined by the WIR Quarter-Mile Late Models, Wisconsin Sport Trucks, American Super Cups, Legends, and Bandoleros. REGULARS, RIVALS, AND NEW ARRIVALS WILL MEET ON LABOR DAY

GREEN BAY, Wis. (August 31, 2022) – The TUNDRA Super Late Model Series will visit Golden Sands Speedway for the tenth time this coming Monday, September 5 for Round Five. The previous nine visits have seen nine different winners. There is a fair chance a tenth different winner is on the horizon.

Current TUNDRA point leader Justin Mondeik is one of three expected entries who will have a chance to win his second series race at the third-mile. Mondeik, a two-time Champion at the facility, dominated the final event of 2020 on a chilly October night.

The other two drivers in the field with opportunities to notch a second win at Golden Sands are Jordan DeVoy and Mark Mackesy.  Interestingly enough, those drivers are the last two to score back-to-back wins in TUNDRA action. DeVoy won last season’s stop at GSS, then won the finale at Dells Raceway Park. In 2016 Mackesy had won the previous event before scoring the win at Golden Sands.

Getting to Victory Lane again could prove to be a tall task, however, with some powerful competition in the field. John Beale is a two-time Dick Trickle Memorial 99 winner at Golden Sands. Travis Volm has captured a win at two Top Fives at GSS this season. 2021 TUNDRA Champ and Kulwicki Driver Development Program Finalist Riley Stenjem and Jordan Thiel both have Second Place finishes in the event. Colin Reffner is a past fast qualifier for the event, as well.

Beyond those competitors, two drivers in the season Champion chase at Golden Sands, Wyatt Brooks and Darren Jackson, will also be in the field. Brooks has one win this season at the third-mile, while Jackson has shown consistency throughout the season. Another driver with a lot of laps at GSS, Alex Volm, will make his series debut in the Wayne Brevik-owned 711.

Several youngsters – some new faces and some familiar – will also be ones to watch come Monday. Chad Butz comes off a strong season in limited time at Wisconsin International Raceway. Max Kahler brings confidence from big wins at his home track, Rockford Speedway. Former TUNDRA Rookie of the Year Brock Henirich looks for his first win. KDDP Finalist Jacob Nottestad will be seeking his Second TUNDRA win in just three starts. Braison Bennett looks to collect two wins on the weekend competing at Norway on Sunday and coming to Plover on Monday.

The EPYK Media Rookie of the Year battle will continue to be one to watch at Golden Sands. Texan Barrett Polhemus currently leads Wausau’s Kole Guralski, but Guralski has been tightening the gap. Both find themselves in the Top Ten of the TUNDRA season standings with consistently strong finishes.

Of final note – for the TUNDRA history books – Steve Lichtfeld will join Corey Jankowski as the only two drivers to have competed in at least one series race each season since the series began in 2011.  That season, Frank Kreyer was crowned Champion. On Monday his son Kendrick will make his series debut. Kreyer was the Pro Late Model Rookie of the Year at Golden Sands this season.

TUNDRA will be joined by the WIR Quarter-Mile Late Models, Wisconsin Sport Trucks, American Super Cups, Legends, and Bandoleros. All support divisions will compete in qualifying and features, while TUNDRA will have preliminaries to set the feature field. Qualifying is at 12:15pm with racing at 2pm.
