MARSHFIELD, Wis. (June 11, 2022) – Due to wet conditions and a poor forecast officials from TUNDRA and Marshfield Motor Speedway have decided to postpone the Bev Aschenbrenner Memorial Presented by Incredible Bank and A&A Lock Service until Saturday, July 30.

The next event for the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series is Saturday, July 16 at Norway Speedway in Norway, Michigan.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (June 8, 2022) – Another stout field full of challengers is prepared to clash this Saturday at Marshfield Motor Speedway in the Bev Aschenbrenner Memorial Presented by Incredible Bank and A&A Lock Service.

Defending TUNDRA Champion Riley Stenjem dominated last year’s Bev Memorial and will look to have the same solid showing this season.  He was able to outmaneuver both Justin Mondeik and John Beale who joined him on the podium. Both drivers have had strong starts to the season outside of TUNDRA with Mondeik scoring his most recent win at Norway and Beale grabbing two victories at Marshfield.

Standing in their way will be a host of TUNDRA Travelers looking to make their marks on the 2022 season, including former Bev winner Colin Reffner.  Jesse Oudenhoven, Chad Butz, Mark Mackesy, and James Swan have enjoyed Top Ten runs in TUNDRA action at Marshfield in the past.  Last season, Brock Heinrich took fast time in the event, and he’ll look to build on that in this year’s visit.

Several other outsiders could pose a major threat including Parker Retzlaff, who has enjoyed recent success racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, former track Champion Darren Jackson, and central Wiscsonsin standouts Jeremy Lepak and Travis Volm.

TUNDRA will be joined by the Legends, Bandits, and Upper Midwest Vintage Racing Series. Fan gates for the event open at 4:30 on Saturday. Qualifying is scheduled for 5:45 with racing at 7 pm.

KAUKAUNA, Wis. (May 14, 2022) – Casey Johnson outmuscled a field full of champions and challengers in Saturday afternoon’s The Bear 66 Presented by Stump Ford as part of Great Lakes Testing Round One at Wisconsin International Raceway. It was his second consecutive season-opening win in TUNDRA Super Late Model Series openers.

Behind Johnson, Justin Mondeik was able to slip past fast qualifier Jeff VanOudenhoven to score the runner-up spot over the former track Champion. Sawyer Effertz and a hard-charging Braison Bennett rounded out the Top Five.

Post-Race Interview with Casey Johnson

It was more than just another impressive day at the track for Johnson as he had to recover from an early slip to 15^th.  Due to some frantic racing in front of him, the inside line sank, leaving Johnson to wait patiently for his opportunities. Those opportunities would be presented to him through some early cautions and the right lane choices.

The biggest shake up of the race came after a lap 12 caution involving Max Kahler and Brock Heinrich. Justin Mondeik was able to wrestle the lead away from early-race leader Jordan DeVoy and secure the top spot while the field sorted out behind him.  Just two laps later DeVoy would spin exiting turn four while racing shoulder-to-shoulder with Grant Griesbach.

On the restart both Johnson and Ken’s Sports Fast Qualifier Jeff VanOudenhoven found themselves in the mix.  VanOudenhoven shot around the outside of Mondeik on lap 16 while Johnosn found himself bottled up behind a furious battle between Griesbach and Dalton Zehr. That battle came to a head with both spinning coming out of turn four on the following lap.

VanOudenhoven outpaced Mondeik on the restart while Jesse Oudenhoven took advantage of a bobble to get past Mondeik. Johnson followed in his tire tracks to secure a Third on lap 18. He wasted no time putting pressure on Oudenhoven, who was also closing the gap on Van Oudenhoven.

Johnson nosed past Oudenhoven on lap 21 and tucked in behind VanOudenhoven. He patiently waited for the right opportunity which came on lap 24. Johnson powered to the outside of VanOudenhoven and set sail into the lead.

Despite a few more showings of the yellow, there was no denying Johnson his second straight TUNDRA season-opening win at the half-mile.  He would go on to build his lead while Mondeik slowly chipped away at Second Place and stole it from Van Oudenhoven late.

The win was Johnson’s fifth of his TUNDRA career, moving him one behind second-place Dennis Prunty. It was also his 26^th Top Five, placing him three behind Dalton Zehr’s leading 29.

The next event for the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series is the Bev Aschenbrenner Memorial at Marshfield Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 11. TUNDRA will be joined by the Legends, Upper Midwest Vintage Racing Series, and Bandits. Fan gates open at 4:30 with qualifying at 5:45 and racing beginning at 7.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (May 10, 2022) – Nothing feels better than getting a season started off on the right foot. That’s exactly what a field full of former Champions will be looking to do as they contend for the biggest winner’s share in TUNDRA Super Late Model Series history this Saturday in Great Lakes Testing Round One at Wisconsin International Raceway.

The Bear 66 Presented by Les Stumpf Ford will pay $3,066 to the winner. Whoever is to grab that prize most certainly will have earned it by fending off a field full of heavy hitters.

Leading the charge will be three former TUNDRA Champions. Four-time series Champion Casey Johnson scored fast time and a win in the series lid lifter in 2021.  Three-time series titlist Dalton Zehr won the first ever TUNDRA race at the famed half-mile. Kulwicki Driver Development Program Finalist and 2021 Champ Riley Stenjem set fast time in his first ever visit to the facility.  All three drivers are sure to be in contention for the win and potentially a cash bonus from Ken’s Sports for quick time.

Beyond those drivers, fans should pay attention to some very hungry TUNDRA regulars who will be looking to put themselves in good positions for a 2022 Championship run.  Jordan Thiel has secured multiple top tens at what he considers his home facility. Two-time Golden Sands and State Park Speedway Champion Justin Mondeik had a strong run early last year until he experienced mechanical failure. Brock Henrich and Colin Reffner have multiple Top Fives at the facility. Jordan DeVoy enters having won the last two TUNDRA races of 2021 and scoring a win in the Dells Raceway Park IceBreaker this past April. Look for them all to be a factor in the 66-lap main event.

Traveling racers will be contested by some local flavor looking to score a win for the WIR locals for the first time in nine tries.  Among those drivers are former track Champions Jeff Van Oudenhoven, Lowell Bennett, Bobby Kendall, and Andy Monday as well as former Red, White and Blue Champion. Jesse Oudenhoven.  What’s more, both Grant Griesbach and Sawyer Effertz will be looking to snag the prize – both drivers came within an eyelash of winning the last two weekly Fox River Racing Club Championships.

The talent and Championships don’t stop there.  Other former Champions in the field include Norway Speedway Champion Chad Butz, former KDDP and Slinger Champ Alex Prunty, former Rockford Speedway titlist Max Kahler, multiple-time WIR Late Model Champions Braison Bennett and Brent Strelka, and former Slinger Late Model Champion Jacob Nottestad. Fans may remember Nottestad (also a member of the 2022 KDDP class) picked up a win in his first and only TUNDRA start at Jefferson last year.

The field will also have some new faces as well as some returning. Lou Goss, and EPYK Media Rookies Barrett Polhemus and James Storey will make their series debut. Kole Guralski will also be in the mix of the TUNDRA Rookie battle, having made his actual series debut two seasons ago at Jefferson. Returning to the fray will be Terry Schoppenhorst, who scored the first ever checkered flag in the dash of the first Alive for Five race in 2011, Minnesota pilot Michael Ostdiek, and veteran racer Darek Gress.

TUNDRA will be joined by the WIR ¼-Mile Late Models, Wisconsin Sport Trucks, and the Figure 8s. Fan gates open at noon, qualifying is at 12:30, and racing begins at 2 PM.

The fun doesn’t stop after the checkered flag during Great Lakes Testing Round One. Fans can join racers and teams while rocking out to the band Liquid Courage in the pits. There is also free on-site camping available for those who would like to make a weekend of the event.

PORTAGE, Wis. – The TUNDRA Super Late Model Series 2022 season schedule has been set with the series again slated for six races at six different facilities.

This season will feature a twist with a trip outside of the state of Wisconsin for only the second time in series history. TUNDRA will make its second visit to Norway (Mich.) Speedway on Saturday night, July 16 for what will be the third race on the schedule. The series last trekked across state lines to the third-mile in 2014. Dalton Zehr sneaked past Dan Lindsley and captured the win. Zehr has stated his intentions to return and defend the win.

TUNDRA will begin its season once again at Wisconsin International Raceway on Saturday afternoon, May 14. Last year Casey Johnson stormed through the field battling the likes of Zehr and eventual EPYK Media Rookie of the Year Grant Thompson.

Following a short break, the series will jump back into action for the Bev Aschenbrenner Memorial at Marshfield Motor Speedway on Saturday night, June 11. Last season was a breakout event for eventual Champion Riley Stenjem as he captured his first series win in the banner event.

After stops at Marshfield and Norway, the series will make its return to State Park Speedway on Saturday night, August 6. TUNDRA’s scheduled stop at the quarter-mile was washed out last season, much to the dismay of Justin Mondeik, who was hoping to repeat his performance of a fast time and win from 2020. He will once again be on hand seeking a visit to Victory Lane at his home track.

The series will begin its stretch run with its popular Labor Day date at Golden Sands Speedway on Monday afternoon, September 5. Jordan DeVoy scored his first ever TUNDRA win last season and could potentially use a repeat to vault himself into title consideration this season.

The final stop of the 2022 campaign is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, September 25 at Dells Raceway Park. Again it was DeVoy flexing his muscle on the way to victory in the Carl Wegner 105 in 2021. The race also featured a furious point battle between Johnson and Stenjem, and has all the makings to provide a dramatic end to the season once more.
